Legendary Roads of Japan
Japan is one of the world’s great motorcycling countries — from horizon-straight farm roads in Hokkaido to ridge-top sweepers on the rim of an active volcano. Here is our region-by-region shortlist of its legendary roads. Many already feature in 26 Adventure tour itineraries; the rest make perfect self-ride targets with a Rental819 bike.
Most mountain roads close from around November to April. Skylines and driveways charge tolls, and a few sections have seasonal or time-of-day motorcycle restrictions — check the latest conditions with us or the local road operator before you go.
