Day-by-Day Itinerary

1. 1

   Day 1

   Sendai – Sanriku Coast – Miracle Pine, Ōfunato

   Pick up bikes in Sendai and head for the Sanriku Coast. The emotional highlight is the "Miracle Pine" — the lone tree that survived the 2011 tsunami — a powerful symbol of Tōhoku's recovery. Overnight in Ōfunato.

   Day 2

   Jōdo-ga-hama Beach – Pacific Overlooks, Hachinohe

   The pristine white sands and strange rock formations of Jōdo-ga-hama are Sanriku's most photogenic spot. Afternoon clifftop overlooks above the sea-eroded Pacific coastline, then north to Hachinohe.

   Day 3

   Osore-zan – Cape Ōma (Honshū's Northernmost Point) – Shimokita Peninsula

   The eerie volcanic landscape of Osore-zan — one of Japan's three sacred mountains — sets a spiritual tone. Then ride to Honshū's northernmost tip at Cape Ōma, with Hokkaidō visible across the strait. Coastal riding back around the Shimokita Peninsula.

   Day 4

   Mt Hakkōda – Hachimantai Highland, Hachimantai

   A breathtaking ride across Mt Hakkōda through primeval forests and snowfields (spectacular autumn colours in season). Afternoon on the Hachimantai highland plateau, following stream valleys in cooling mountain air.

   Day 5

   Hachimantai Aspite Line – Tōhoku Expressway – Bike Return, Sendai

   The Hachimantai Aspite Line is a bucket-list highland road with sweeping views of snowfields even in summer. Then head south on the Tōhoku Expressway back to Sendai for bike return and farewell.
